Gypsum is a soft mineral that occurs in abundance across the Arabian Peninsula and in Oman and Saudi Arabia in particular. It has one unique property, which is its ability to hold large quantities of water; trillions of litres may be locked into deposits across the region. Our team, led by H.I.T. in Rotterdam, have devised a strategy using fracturing and proprietary extraction technology for a field pilot implementation to extract water from gypsum formations. This research pilot is currently being considered for funding by interested parties in Oman, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
