Frac Rite and their Korean licensee, TRIUM Solutions, Inc. were invited by the ROK Army to conduct a pilot demonstration project for the remediation of a diesel- contaminated military base in South Korea using frac-permeation technology. The work was conducted in June and July of 2009 and involved the fracture-emplacement and permeation of modified Fentons Reagent to mitigate Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon impacts in soil to below applicable land use clean-up criteria. Third party validation demonstrated that initial soil contaminant concentrations approaching 10,000 mg/kg were reduced to well below the remediation criteria of 2,000 mg/kg within two months. The success of this demonstration project resulted in the adoption of frac-permeation treatment as the only sanctioned in situ remediation technology permitted at South Korean military sites.
